The Riverplains Four in Hand

The Riverplains Four in Hand are Freisan x Saddlebreds ranging in ages from 8-15 years old. The original pair, Bella & Ritza are perfectly matched mares at 16.1 hands and have been competed extensively by Rachel Niceley at the Intermediate level. The younger pair, Chase and Roma were shown lightly before entering the team put together by Jose Hernandez. Chase is the only gelding in the team.

All four of the horses are also ridden and have foxhunted with the Tennessee Valley Hunt. This type of cross training helps create endurance and character.

Bella & Chase are primarily used as leaders. They exhibit the graceful and fluid movements needed for dressage and are responsive and quick for cones and marathon.

Ritza and Roma are often the wheelers. They bring the strength and steadiness to the team to hold it all together. Ritza brings in years of experience and Roma brings her forwardness to please that creates the thrill of the moment.

Jose Hernandez does a wonderful job blending the synergy of this lovely team of horses that were bred and trained here in America. This is a fine example of supporting local carriage driving through various breeders, owners, trainers, drivers, grooms, and all the support crew that brings a four in hand together as a living piece of art.

Riverplains Farm is located in Strawberry Plains, Tennessee.
